DENVER – July 20, 2023 — Hummingbird Healthcare, a healthcare services company dedicated to reimagining the patient experience through its patient access as a service approach, has successfully concluded its initial round of funding in collaboration with UCHealth, an innovative, Colorado-based nonprofit health system that includes 12 acute-care hospitals and more than 150 clinics across Colorado, southern Wyoming and western Nebraska. As Hummingbird’s primary investor and initial partner, UCHealth will partner with the company in its mission to reimagine patient access to elevate the patient experience.
Established in 2022, Hummingbird’s vision is to modernize healthcare access and care navigation by creating an intuitive and personalized experience for patients while reducing health system costs. The company’s accomplished team comprises healthcare entrepreneurs and industry experts specializing in patient access, healthcare IT, Epic, digital engagement, and healthcare contact centers.
Through this partnership, Hummingbird will be working with UCHealth to develop an enhanced patient experience that will benefit both patients and caregivers. Hummingbird and UCHealth aim to develop innovative services to expand access, helping patients schedule the health care appointments they need more quickly and conveniently. Hummingbird will leverage its expertise in access and patient experience to help healthcare organizations nationwide improve their operations and to reduce duplicative technology through the full adoption of the core technologies they’ve already invested in.
Jeremy Schwach, CEO of Hummingbird, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “UCHealth is a quiet innovator. They consistently look for novel ways to leverage technology and partnerships to improve their patients’ experiences and outcomes, and they do so successfully without fanfare. We are thrilled to work alongside UCHealth to leverage their expertise and out-of-the-box thinking to realize a new shared vision of patient-centric healthcare.”
UCHealth and its CARE Innovation Center have a long history of partnering with industry and innovative startup companies to develop, test and launch products that improve quality, safety, patient experience or healthcare operations.
“UCHealth is committed to innovating and fundamentally transforming the way we deliver care. This includes delivering a differentiated patient experience as we help patients navigate our healthcare system and get the care they need at the time and place of their choosing,” said Dr. Richard Zane, chief innovation officer at UCHealth and chair of emergency medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. “Ideally, the innovative approaches we develop with Hummingbird will be emulated nationally and scaled to other health systems across the nation”.
